Jon Benjamin Tallerås (b.1984, Oslo, Norway) investigates urban space, exploring hidden and often non-used areas of the city. His improvised actions, informal sculpture and low-profile infiltrations belong to a tradition of urban wandering that reaches back at least as far as André Breton's photographic expeditions in 1920s Paris. His transient navigation through the metropolitan landscape claim the accidental gaps and spaces formed on the margins of functional architecture.
Tallerås has exhibited extensively throughout Norway and abroad, and his works have been shown in institutions such as: MUNCH Museum «Munchmuseum on the move» (NO), The National Museum (NO), Kunstnernes Hus (NO), Lofoten International Art Festival – LIAF Biennial (NO), Oslo Architecture triennale (NO), Stavanger Kunsthall (NO), Treignac Project (FR), EKKM (Contemporary Art Museum of Estonia) (ES), CAC Vilnius (LI) Pori Artmuseum (FI) and Kunsthall C, Stockholm (SE).
Recent exhibitions include: «Earth Works», Bergen Kunsthall (NO), «MEASURES» Survival Kit festival, Latvian Center of Contemporary Art (LV), «Å gjenvinne tapte fremtider» Kunsthall Oslo, (NO), and «Norwegian sculpture triennial» Norwegian Sculptors Society, (NO).
